Lithgow No1 MkIII* buttstock markings, denoting it as a Lithgow SMLE No III*, its issue date (1943) and that it is sighted for the Mk VII ammunition (HV).

Buttstock markings on a Long Branch. Three separate stamps, LB Inspector marking, a C Broad Arrow and a Government Inspection stamp.
