No4 MkI(T) and MkI*(T) Sniper Rifle
The Scope
The Lee-Enfield No4 MkI(T), is mostly
considered as the best sniper rifle of its class to have come out of World War
II. This is most probably due in part, to the strength of the No4 to withstand
the battlefield, but most likely due to the No32 scope. The No32 scope was
originally designed for use on the Bren machine gun and so its construction was
extremely rugged. Optically the scope was 4 power unit (Mk3 version) and
offered "minute of angle" adjustments up to 1000 yards and deflection
(windage) in one minute clicks, 16 minute left and right of zero. When combined
with the mount and rings this beast added 2-1/2 lbs. to the rifle, creating a
pretty stable platform for precision shooting.

on the scope mount. Seen also are the numbered rings which when installed the
screw heads were staked in place.

From the driver's seat, are the adjustable range and
deflection turrets.

Reticle pattern of the No32 scope
The No32 scope was originally designed for fitting to the BREN light machine
gun, although that never happened, it does explain the extremely robust
character of this scope.
Point of aim was to be taken from the point of the vertical post, the
horizontal line was used merely to level the target image.
